Probability Distribution Functions (PDFs)

Probability Distribution Functions or PDFs, are line graphs that show the relative probability of different amounts of climate change. You can produce PDFs by using the UKCP09 User Interface .

PDFs can be produced for both the climate change projections over land and for the marine & coastal projections. They show projected climate change or, over land areas, projected future climate for:

  • One climate variable (such as temperature or precipitation)
  • One location
  • One time period
  • One temporal average
  • One, two or three emissions scenarios

You can export PDFs from the User Interface  as images in various file formats (.pdf, .ps, .png and .jpg). The underlying values can also be exported as .csv files which can be opened as a spreadsheet.

More information on PDFs

More information about how to use PDFs can be found on the Probability Distribution Functions (PDFs) in detail page. Information on how to interpret them can be found on the Interpreting Probability Distribution Functions (PDFs) page.
