Shapefiles are a type of data file format, known as 'geospatial vector data' format and are used for GIS software. The shapefile format was developed for use in ESRI software (ArcView and ArcGIS), but can also be used with other GIS software packages.

The UKCP09 User Interface allows the UKCP09 probabilistic projections to be exported as shapefiles. They can then be visualised and manipulated in GIS software. More information is provided in the Reports & guidance section.
